making this song was really healing for me, first off it was so beautiful to write together with my partner Julia, we’ve written together before but this one felt very special from the beginning. the words and melodies came so easily. the song helped me process some challenging, harsh inner-critic voices , and remember to be kinder and let go of superficial perfection. I’ve realized I’m not always as free as I long to be - free from the sway of the negative inner monologue, from envy, anxiety.. sometimes I feel like I’m being held hostage by all the bs in my head. but at the end of the day it’s human to feel these things, and it doesn’t mean something is deeply wrong with me :) it just means I’m living and growing. creating and sharing personal music can be a dangerous business for a sensitive heart. but it’s really the most worthwhile thing. and one of my biggest dreams is just to trust that inner-knowing more and more.
I hope you enjoy the song ❤️

lyrics
I don't know why
I wish I was dreaming
It breaks my heart
Torn apart
Which side to believe in
You are my friend
That's what makes it hard to pretend
It doesn't hurt
It just gets worse
Cause you hurt my feelings
Don't know what to do
Wish you never told me
Broken trust
Starts to rust
Do you even know me
Let's put it behind
Go back to the beginning
Press rewind
Maybe we'll find
This old world keeps spinning
Should know better than to listen in
Since my mind plays games
But my heart's on my skin
Should know better than to give in
When my mind plays games
But my heart's on my skin
Should know better than to listen in
When my mind plays games
But my heart's on my skin
Should know better than to give in
Since my mind plays games
But my heart's on my skin
Should know better
