可愛梨 I'm choosing Hope You'll Be as my favourite track because of how much in brings back reminders from my lover who passed away the same year this album came out. I know if he was still on this earth he'd be happy to find Alex's music as he exuded the same energy of curiosity, grace, joy and most of all capsulated that into his music. Run Home reminds me of the cold evenings I'd run home after studying on the Peace Bridge in Calgary while Kevin would busk beside me. Stronger Than Love is also gold~ Favorite track: Hope You'll Be.

Easy 03:28
Love is sweet and love is kind If you take your time True love you’ll find Is easy You know it is Love is soft and love is warm If you know yourself when love is born It’s easy You know it is To lose yourself in someone’s arms Was it chance or was it written in the stars To find yourself so far from home And forget all the days when you were on your own Still love is soft and love is warm If you know yourself when love is born It’s easy You know it is Oh it’s easy You know it is To lose yourself in someone’s arms Was it chance or was it written in the stars To find yourself so far from home And forget all the days when you were on your own It’s easy You know it is Oh it’s easy You know it is

Run Home 03:24
2. Run Home Far above the rain The sky is full of flame And no way to explain This lovely weather Move my aching feet In search of energy A touch of body heat Two people together Run run run Run down the road Run far up ahead Run home Run run run From sunup to the evening time Oh run that road Run home Oh run home Wonder at the ones Who change direction We need protection To keep us steady Soon we will decide Is heaven on our side Will the time be right People get ready Run run run Run down the road Run far up ahead Run home Run run run From sunup to the evening time Oh run that road Run home Run home

Good Leg 03:46
I was thinking of the young days When all the world was still a game But half of my life is gone, gone, gone, gone Now I need a good leg to stand on I was dreaming of tomorrow There’s still time to change my ways But half of my life is gone, gone, gone, gone And I need a good leg to stand on Can you hear me when I call Come see me tomorrow When all the world will celebrate Never younger than today I was frightened by religion Who can claim to save my soul But half of my life is gone, gone, gone, gone And I need a good leg to stand on I had too many questions For all the answers I was told But half of my life is gone, gone, gone, gone I need a good leg to stand on Can you hear me when I call Come see me tomorrow All the world will celebrate Never younger than today Today Hold on, hold on Hold on, hold on Half of my life is gone, gone, gone, gone And I need a good leg to stand on

Well my city’s hanging on a star Yes my city’s hanging on a star When the sun goes down and the whole place starts Glowing in the dark Oh my city’s hanging on a star Yes long goes the night before the dawn So long goes the night before the dawn When the sun climbs high and the whole place cries Do what you got to and be gone So long goes the night before the dawn See them floating down the boulevards See them flying in their motorcars See them kissing all their cares goodbye See them wishing they could fly the sky Oh my city’s hanging on a star Yes my city’s hanging on a star When the sun goes down and the whole place starts Glowing in the dark Then my city’s hanging on a star

Girl 04:46
Now she, she won’t be satisfied By no material things at all, oh no Cause she, she’s just the type of girl Who really wants your heart and soul, oh you know Tell you what Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl Keep that girl around Cause she, she won’t be satisfied By no one night stand man, oh no Cause she deserves a better man Somebody who can make her whole, yeah you know Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl Keep that girl around She’s so sound, she’s so sound You better keep that girl, keep that girl around Oh she knows love is not a masterpiece Oh love is not a masterpiece, by any means You gotta learn it as you go Don’t be too shy to let her know, now Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl yeah Boy you better keep, boy you better keep that girl Keep that girl around She’s so sound, she’s so sound You better keep that girl, keep that girl Keep that girl, keep that girl around

Summer Tune 03:16
Oh setting sun, don’t cry when the day is done You’re always on my mind Till I see you again Oh lovely moon, go to sleep when the night is through Rest on the other side Till I see you again I’ll follow you down, on your way Don’t you be late I’ll see you again Oh fireflies, the way you are is sublime I’m dreaming of summertime Till I see you again Oh pretty rose, in a yard nobody goes Someday I’ll fall in love But I just can’t say when So I’m taking my time like raindrops falling Onto the roof of your house, darling You follow me down On my way Don’t you be late I’ll see you again

Quiet King 03:29
8. Quiet King Restless skylark Don’t you know who’s in control of your heart The wind in the willow Weeping all alone in the meadow So long, my friend, so long Goodbye, my love, goodbye But before you go just Tell me, tell me How you’re gonna leave me all alone Tell me, tell me How you’re gonna leave me all alone When you know loneliness is the quiet king The quiet king In his kingdom Both the pauper and the prince are lonesome Just daydreaming some way To mend your broken heart and escape So long, my friend, so long Goodbye, my love, goodbye But before you go just Tell me, tell me How you’re gonna leave me all alone Tell me, tell me How you’re gonna leave me all alone When you know loneliness is the quiet king The quiet king So long, my friends, so long Goodbye, my love, goodbye (I gotta leave alone) So long, my friends, so long Goodbye, my love, goodbye

Old as the open sky Stranger than passing time True as the stars above There’s nothing I could dream of That’s stronger than love Free as the wind that blows Deep as the earth below Try as I might There’s nothing I could abide That’s stronger than love Stronger than love Stronger than love

about

10 years ago I arrived in Eastern Europe looking for my roots, looking for adventure. In a hostel in Moscow I met Matti, a Finnish guy a little older than me, who heard me playing guitar and came over to me. What song was I playing? It was Summer Tune, one of my own. We got to talking and he invited me to visit him in Finland. About a month later, I did. We recorded Summer Tune at his house, in the studio up in the attic filled with instruments from the 70’s, vintage synthesizers, a real Mellotron, and microphones he had built himself. The recording sounded special, like something I’d heard in a dream. After some days I went on to Ukraine, a reverse migration to Kyiv where my family had long ago left the shtetl, and then to a small rural village called Zoziv where my friend Jackie was stationed in the peace corps. I spent a couple weeks there, playing soccer with the local kids, running through sunflower fields, playing chess and cooking apple pies and shakshuka. I wrote Good Leg, Run Home and Quiet King there. We did a concert for everyone at the restaurant, the only one in town, and got written up in the local paper. It was August 2013. No one knew at the time that the whole peace corps would soon be evacuated from Ukraine. I returned to Finland, to Matti’s house in Röykkä, where we recorded music late into the evenings. When I hear the music we made, it brings me right back to that time, to the shortening days and winding country roads all covered in golden autumn leaves. Everything I was thinking and feeling then. I’m so glad I have this time capsule to share with the world again.
